Can I wash my area rugs in my washing machine?

Can I wash my area rugs in my washing machine?

Sure, as long as the area rugs are small enough to fit in the washer. Also, as long as the label says “machine washable.”

Other cleaning methods include hand washing or dry cleaning. But, again, read the label to see what's recommended for yours. Read on to learn more about the benefits of rugs in the home.

Just like any carpet–but smaller

Area rugs
are just like wall-to-wall or any broadloom. However, they don't stretch across the entire room!

The most common stock sizes are 5 feet by 8 feet or 8 feet by 11 feet. Colors, designs, and shapes are standard as well.

They come in many fibers, including wool, nylon, polyester, silk, seagrass, etc. Some to see in our area rug store in Boca Raton, FL, are Acropolis Robin's Egg Blue by Karastan or Aria-Linen by Milliken.

Same advantages as any carpet

Area rugs will keep a cool room chilly. But, then, it will make the room feel cozy and warm when needed.

They reduce noise. Hard surfaces don’t absorb sounds.

The echoes and vibrations bounce around, so you'll hear footsteps, muffled conversations, beeping devices, etc. But, of course, adding an area rug takes care of that!

They also add comfort and cushioning from hard falls.

How to use your area rugs:

  1. Add an accent or highlight
  2. Section areas to create a separate space
  3. Create custom rugs with a special message, logo, or design.
  4. Add color and texture to a bland room
  5. Zhuzh up a neutral-toned carpet or subdue an overly patterned one.
  6. Place them in high-traffic areas
